As we draw the curtain on yet another remarkable financial year at MMA, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our members for your steadfast support. It is your active engagement and encouragement that have enabled us to achieve this milestone of all-around excellence.
India stands at a defining moment in its economic journey. With our per capita income now approaching USD 2,700, we are on the brink of an inflection point. Global economic trends have shown that once an economy crosses the USD 3,000 per capita threshold, the average consumer’s basic needs tend to be secured. What follows is an increased capacity—and appetite—for financial planning, investments, and wealth creation.
In economies where the financial ecosystem is mature and accessible, this surplus income, when channelled into productive instruments rather than idle assets like gold or underperforming savings accounts, results in a significant multiplier effect. This not only boosts personal wealth but also contributes to broader economic growth.
India is poised to become the world’s third-largest economy. In this environment of unprecedented opportunity, businesses—big or small—have the potential to scale new heights. There is no better time for individuals and families to build and grow their wealth through prudent financial strategies, smart investments, calculated risk-taking, and long-term planning.
In this context, MMA was pleased to host an insightful discussion on the book “Unlocking Wealth: Secrets to Getting Rich at Any Age” by Mr. Rohit Sarin, Author and Co-Founder of Client Associates. In this issue, we bring you a feature article on this engaging session. I encourage you to read on and watch the video—it might just offer the key insights you need to embark on your own journey to financial independence.
Let’s unlock our potential. Let’s unlock our wealth.
Beware of Fraudulent Companies!
One of the most alarming threats to investor confidence and wealth today is the rise of fraudulent companies. These entities, often masquerading as promising ventures, are unfortunately proving to be the single largest destroyers of investor wealth. I believe it is vital—now more than ever—for retail investors to be vigilant and informed.
Before investing, individuals must take the time to study the Profit & Loss statements, cash flow records, and balance sheets of companies thoroughly. Financial statements tell a story—one that, if read carefully, can reveal the underlying strength or fragility of a business.
There’s a popular saying: “If you can drive on Indian roads, you can drive anywhere in the world.” The same analogy applies to equity investing. Navigating India’s SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) segment can appear to be a fast track to wealth, but seasoned market veterans know the risks all too well. Often, what looks like an opportunity may turn out to be little more than a gamble—an exercise in chance rather than strategy.
That said, not every mismatch between a company’s P&L and cash flow statements points to fraud. Some discrepancies may arise from sector-specific disruptions, liquidity pressures, or operational inefficiencies. Nonetheless, caution must be the guiding principle. With proper checks and balances in place, retail investors can avoid falling into traps disguised as opportunities.
As someone once wisely observed, “Some games are best won by not playing them.” Let us remind ourselves that prudence and diligence are the investor’s greatest allies.
Impact of Trump Tariffs: Watching the Global Winds
The “R-word”—Recession—is making its way back into global economic discourse, albeit for now as a distant but serious risk. As U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest tariff measures grip international markets, economists are once again raising concerns about the potential consequences for the world’s largest economy—and, by extension, the global financial system.
Whether these developments lead to a short-term economic slowdown or something more prolonged and severe will depend on several unpredictable variables. While a full-blown recession is not imminent, the underlying signals are worth monitoring closely. Trade tensions, especially between major economies, often have ripple effects that extend far beyond borders.
In this context, I am pleased to present in this issue a thought-provoking feature on the discussion titled “Trump 2.0: What Does It Mean for India & the World?” The article delves into the geopolitical and economic ramifications of a second Trump presidency, particularly from an Indian perspective. I encourage you to read the article and watch the video coverage for deeper insights.
I am also delighted to share that MMA, in association with Colors of Glory, is hosting an engaging session on the theme “India as a Global Player: The Challenges in a Multipolar World” by Lt Gen P R Shankar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd), Former Director General of Artillery and Professor, Aerospace Department, IIT Madras. Operation Brahma: A Testament to India’s Regional Responsibility
A devastating earthquake has struck Myanmar, claiming over 1,600 lives and leaving thousands in distress. In the wake of this humanitarian tragedy, India has risen to the occasion with timely and decisive action. Under Operation Brahma, the Government of India has extended a comprehensive package of relief measures—ranging from emergency medicines and aid materials to deploying specialized search and rescue teams. A 118-member Army Field Hospital unit has also been dispatched to provide critical medical assistance on the ground.
India’s swift and empathetic response is commendable—not just as a humanitarian gesture, but also as a strategic move that reinforces its commitment to regional stability and goodwill. Acts of compassion in times of crisis strengthen the bonds of neighbourly relations and contribute to building long-term partnerships grounded in trust and mutual respect.
As geopolitical dynamics continue to shift across the world, India’s proactive engagement in its immediate neighbourhood is both timely and essential. Supporting Myanmar in its hour of need is a reflection of our values as a nation and our aspirations as a responsible global player.
In this context, we urge to watch the upcoming MMA talk on “India as a Global Player”, scheduled for 26 April 2025—a timely discussion that will delve into India’s evolving role on the global stage.
Let us remain committed to upholding the values of empathy, leadership, and international cooperation.
Encouraging Mid-Level Leadership to Contribute to Research
Age is no barrier to meaningful research. In fact, mid-level professionals and leaders are uniquely positioned to offer rich insights drawn from years of hands-on experience and industry exposure. Encouraging them to contribute to research is not just an academic exercise—it is a powerful way to capture real-world lessons, innovations, and leadership narratives that can inspire and shape the thinking of future generations.
To facilitate this, organizations can reframe research as impactful storytelling—accessible, relevant, and deeply rooted in practical experience. Supporting this journey through simple writing workshops, mentorship opportunities, and publishing platforms can significantly lower the barriers to entry. Recognizing these contributions and embedding them into performance reviews or professional development plans will reinforce the value of research as an essential aspect of professional growth. Encouraging collaboration with academic institutions and younger colleagues can further enrich the research process through diverse perspectives and shared learning.
By fostering a culture of reflection and knowledge sharing, we unlock a wellspring of wisdom that can meaningfully inform future practices, influence policies, and drive collective progress.
In this context, MMA is delighted to host a discussion on the theme of the book “The Making of a Dissertation: Challenges of a Mid-Career PhD” on 19 April 2025. We are privileged to have Mr. Bhaskar Bhat, Ex-Director, Tata Sons & Former Managing Director, Titan Company Ltd, and Mr. B. Santhanam, CEO Asia-Pacific and India & Chairman, Saint-Gobain India, share their perspectives during this special event.

Indian Digital League – IPL 2025: A Masterclass in Digital Transformation
Steve Jobs once said, “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.” This rings especially true when it comes to technology—its impact often becomes clear only in hindsight.
What we are witnessing with IPL 2025 is a defining moment in the intersection of sports, technology, and digital innovation. With just a two-month runtime and a fan base that eclipses most global sporting leagues, this year’s edition is not just another season—it is a turning point. Artificial Intelligence has seamlessly integrated into every facet of the league, from hyper-personalised content and real-time engagement to performance analytics and monetisation strategies.
IPL 2025 has evolved into a case study in AI-led fan engagement, interactive marketing, and digital commerce at scale. It is no longer just about watching a game—it’s about living it, interacting with it, and in some cases, even profiting from it in real time. The level of immersion and connectivity offered to fans, brands, and stakeholders has set a new benchmark in how digital ecosystems can drive engagement.
For corporates, IPL 2025 serves as the perfect blueprint for the future of marketing. The league showcases the power of data, storytelling, and technology working in tandem to create an experience that is not only entertaining but also deeply personalized and commercially effective.
Digital history is being written—and there is much to learn from it.
India’s Youth & Politics: Awakening a Generation
India, one of the youngest nations in the world, boasts a demographic where 27.3% of the population falls within the 15–29 age group. This vibrant segment holds immense potential in shaping the nation’s future—socially, economically, and politically. The youth are not only the bearers of tomorrow’s aspirations but also the catalysts for change today. Their engagement is critical to nurturing an inclusive, progressive, and participative democracy.
However, a recent survey reveals a complex picture. While young Indians strongly identify with the nation—81% of respondents described themselves as “Indian” first—their engagement with formal political processes remains limited. Only 10% are members of political parties, while 29% prefer to stay away from politics altogether. Another 26% engage with political issues but without formally associating with any party.
Interestingly, India’s youth lean toward progressive values: they strongly support women’s right to move freely in public spaces and uphold the freedom of expression—even when opinions challenge prevailing views. Yet, there seems to be a disconnect when it comes to political participation. This reluctance may stem from a sense of disillusionment, mistrust in the system, or perceptions of inefficiency in governance.
It is imperative that we, as a society, find ways to bridge this gap. Involving youth in political dialogue, policy-making, and civic initiatives is essential for building a prosperous and forward-looking nation. Their energy, idealism, and fresh perspectives must be channelled into constructive avenues that not only empower them but also strengthen the democratic fabric of our country.
Let us remember—an engaged youth is the most powerful force in shaping the destiny of a nation.
Indian Women Take Centre Stage
The power of womanhood has long been celebrated in poetry and prose—both ancient and contemporary. Across centuries and civilizations, women have played a vital role in shaping societies, nurturing innovation, and driving progress. Yet, much of their contribution has remained unacknowledged or overlooked.
The under representation of women in public spaces, leadership roles, and economic participation continues to be a pressing concern. Beyond issues of fairness and equality, this gap comes at a significant cost to our nation’s development and growth. Numerous studies have pointed to the immense economic value that women’s full participation could unlock. The time has come to not only acknowledge this potential but to act decisively and inclusively.
We must envision a world where women are not merely included but are integral to shaping policies, designing services, and influencing change. A world where equal pay, equal opportunity, and equal respect are not aspirations, but realities. It is no longer about waiting for a seat at the table—it is about reshaping the table itself. The time has come for women to lead boldly, change the game, and accelerate progress.
In this context, MMA organized a thought-provoking session on the theme of the book “Nari Shakti: Indian Women Take Centre Stage” on 27 January 2025 at the MMA Management Center. We were honoured to have Ms. Arundhati Bhattacharya, Former Chairperson, State Bank of India and Chairperson & CEO, Salesforce India, as the Chief Guest. Her powerful insights and inspiring words made the session a memorable one.
